Today we celebrate Nurse Elissa Cato on National Nurses Day! Nurse Elissa plays a very important role at Dewar in keeping us safe, healthy, and ready to learn. Whether it's helping with a scrape, taking care of students who feel sick, or making sure everyone gets the care they need, Nurse Elissa is always there with kindness and a smile. Thank you for all the hard work, patience, and care you give every day. We appreciate you and love you more than words can say!

Wow!! Another sweet treat for Teacher Appreciation Week! Special thanks to Preston Taylor of Timberwind Lawn Care for providing a milkshake bar from Ellas Top Corral. They were delicious!

Miss Ply’s class just finished reading the book “Because of Winn Dixie” by Kate DiCamillo. This book tells the story of Opal, who adopts a stray dog in the Winn Dixie grocery store that she names Winn Dixie. She learns the value of friendship and forgiveness because of Winn Dixie! Students got to work collaboratively with a partner to retell the story through illustrations using Canva! 🐶❤️

Ahoy matey! Captain Heeter's sailors got in shipshape with a geometry review ⚓️📐. No scalawags to be seen here! ☠️ This crew uncovered the path to treasure on a map 🗺️ by completing geometry review questions and found a chest of jewels 💎💰!!
Arrrgggggghhh!! 🏴☠️

Mrs. Umpleby’s students had a blast exploring symmetry through a creative Canva project! Using their first or last names, they typed each letter and analyzed whether it was symmetrical or asymmetrical. This engaging activity helped students connect art, literacy, and geometry in a fun and meaningful way!

Miss Barfield and Miss Swopes’ 2nd grade class made math extra fun (and delicious) today! 🎉
We used cereal to build arrays and show repeated addition sentences. The students did an amazing job—and the best part? They got to eat the cereal when they finished! 🥣😋 Learning is always better with a snack!
