Today, our PGE Deployment Breakfast Club brought the holiday spirit to life as children celebrated in their cozy PJs! They enjoyed sweet treats, created festive holiday crafts, and formed meaningful friendships while supporting one another. A special thank you to Moody AFB Arts and Crafts for contributing to the children’s beautiful holiday craft decorations by capturing Polaroid memories. We also appreciate our amazing Moody AFB volunteers who provided mentorship and support to our students making them feel truly special. Today, we also welcomed Alexandra’s dad, SrA Costa, back from deployment! Welcome home, SrA Costa—we are so glad you’re here and thank you for your service! 🎄💖

Thank you to each and every person who purchased tickets or volunteered for our annual Breakfast with Santa event! Thanks to the support of our One Lowndes community we were able to purchase jackets and shoes for 30 students! We are so blessed to be able to give back to those in need during this Christmas season!

Today, these Christmas Scientists made a hypothesis as to which liquid would dissolve a candy cane first. The liquids were vinegar, oil, hot water, and cold water. Hot water was the winner but vinegar came in at a close second!

🎉 Happy Grinch Day, everyone! 🎄 Mrs. Reeves' students are busy comparing and contrasting two festive favorites: "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" and "How the Grinch Lost Christmas." 📚✨

Mrs. Penland’s students took on the STEM challenge of creating a parachute for Santa due to his sleigh being broken. Students started by learning about parachutes and how they work, designing a plan, building their parachute, and then a few trials before the final test! Students had an end goal of making sure Santa landed upright and on target. The process had a lot of trial and error but students powered through and were successful. Thanks Mrs. Akers for coming to help us!

Congratulations to this year's PGE Spelling Bee winners! Our 1st place winner is Lydia Brown and the 2nd place winner Ava Stansbury. These students will go to the Lowndes County School's Spelling Bee. We are proud of all of the students!!!!

Over the last few weeks, 2nd grade has been composing rhythms in a meter of 3 or 4. They composed their turkey rhythms, practiced their composition, and then played their compositions on the drums. We then recorded their “parade” and shared it using QR codes that were displayed out in the hallway.

Today our PGE students enjoyed sweet treats, juice, and created festive fall crafts while building connections with friends who share similar experiences of parental deployment.
We are so grateful Moody Air Force Base service members joined us in helping facilitate the event by providing mentorship and support to our children making this event extra special.
Welcome home, MSgt Garza! Your service and sacrifices mean the world, and it was heartwarming to see the joy your return brings to sweet Iris.🍩🍂

Eloise, a second grade from Mrs. Penland’s class, researched and wrote about Juliette Gordon Low. Since Eloise is a Girl Scout, she had some background knowledge and the experience of going to see the birthplace of this important historical figure for Georgia. After researching, Eloise wrote an informational writing piece and published it on Google Docs and presented to her class. Way to shine Eloise!

The book fair is opened through Friday, Nov. 15th. Shop during the school day or after school on Tuesday, Nov. 12th until 5:45 p.m. Set up a student eWallet at the QR code on the flyer. Check out the book fair online at https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/pinegroveelementaryschool8. You can also use the QR code!

Mrs. Penland's second graders had a delicious science lab lesson about the three states of matter. Students observed a liquid (root beer) being poured over a solid (ice cream) to create the third state of matter: gas. Students will have no issue remembering this science lesson!

🎃 First Deployment Breakfast Club Recap! 🎃
Today was a heartwarming start to our PGE Deployment Breakfast Club. Our military students got to meet other kids going through similar experiences, enjoy yummy juice and donuts, and kick off the season with spooky crafts! A huge thank you to Daylight Donuts for their generous donation of welcome home donuts, to our volunteer parent Mrs. Fitzpatrick, and PGE for their ongoing support of military students! 🍩 Special welcome back to MSgt Westfall and SSgt Thompson, who just returned home—your families, our PGE school and community are so glad to have you back!

Way to go rockstars! Mr. Sapp's 5th-grade students earned their first belt on the recorder!

September's Travis Pate State Farm Good Neighbors!

We loved celebrating our wonderful Bus Drivers this week! Thank you for your patience, your kindness, and your dedication!! Some of our students got to decorate bags that we filled with goodies to show our appreciation. Students enjoyed hand delivering the treats too!

Students in Mrs. Penlands class listened to the story How Big is a Foot? And then were challenged to construct a bed big enough for their stuffed animals. Students had to measure their animal in inches and add a few inches to make sure their animal didn’t fall off. They also compared their beds to the size of a king size bed by creating a subtraction equation using the measurements of the king size beds length and width in inches to their own bed they created. Students learned the importance of measuring precisely to ensure they had a bed that fit their animal comfortably.

Just like popcorn adds extra flavor, during writing today, Mrs. Bearrentine's students used adjectives to add richness and detail to expand our sentences and make them more vivid! 🍿
