Girls on the Run is concluding their season with a community service project benefiting senior dogs at Beagles and Friends. Jeff and Missie Atkinson from Flatwood Kennels brought in Chance, a rescue dog with a mission to highlight the importance of supporting animal rescues. After being rescued, Chance has gone on to become a search and rescue dog, and certified to be a therapy dog. The girls are excited to support Beagles and Friends by collecting donations of senior dog food, along with used towels and blankets. Donations will be collected through May and can be dropped off in third grade hall.

What a fantastic day of discovery! 🌟 Mrs. Youngblood's students dove into the world of light and sound, testing objects to classify them as transparent, translucent, or opaque. They created beautiful rainbows using prisms and flashlights! 🌈✨ Plus, they experimented with sound waves using tuning forks, rice, and water. And who could forget sending secret messages in Morse code? 🕵️‍♂️💬

3rd Grade students participated in a science activity while studying plant and animal adaptations. Students were able to see first hand how an animal's adaptations help them survive. The students took on the role of the bird looking for a worm. The worms were represented by orange, yellow, and green pasta noodles. On the grass, the orange and yellow worms were found much quicker than the green worms. The students were able to see how helpful camouflage is to the survival of some animals!

Today, PGE military students were feeling the love! 💕 They enjoyed delicious donuts, sipped on juice, and got creative with heart-themed crafts, all while building meaningful connections with friends. A huge THANK YOU to our amazing Moody Air Force Base mentors for their continued support and encouragement! 💙✈️ We also appreciate everyone who joined in to help make the morning even more meaningful. It was a morning full of laughter, friendship, and support, proving that no one goes through deployment alone. 💖

Congratulations to Brien and Jackson in Mr. Sapp's class for being awesome artists! 5th graders have been diligently working on their still life paintings in the style of Cuban artist Amelia Peleaz. She is known to paint fruit native to Cuba using bright colors, organic shapes, and patterns. Brien chose to paint bananas in cool colors and Jackson painted a warm color pineapple. The swirling lines in the background make their paintings so much fun. Great job guys!

rs. Ramos and Mrs. Penland’s Flex students combined to share their learning about the three states of matter! Today they were challenged to a fill in the blank showdown with a prize of making Oobleck! Students were successful in naming the three states of matter and details about their particles. So what is Oobleck? A solid? A liquid? Why don’t you ask one of these fantastic flex friends? Or even better, try to make it yourself!

4th graders took their math skills to the kitchen! They learned to measure using 1/3, 1/2, and 1/4 cups, and even tackled equivalent fractions like 5/15 and 5/20! 🤓 And guess what? They figured out how to make 1/6 using half of the 1/3 cup since we didn’t have a 1/6 measuring cup!
